Katie who? Katie Did!

My photo
About me? A born and raised Iowa girl, but my heart belongs to Florida. With white sand beaches, crystal clear blue water and lazy days. I've recently been diagnosed as being Gluten Intolerant, so I'm onto a new adventure. Each day is different learning lesson with how to deal with the intolerance, but I love a challenge!

PSA!!!!!!

Never, ever get your eyebrows waxed and then go tanning. Talk about a major burn! I wasn't even thinking...all I could see were my pastey white legs. Continue on with your day...thank you!

This is what I wanted to do today.

Yep, that's right, I wanted to quilt all day long. The problem you ask? I had yardwork to do...a LOT of yard work to do. I had to put away the snowblower, get out the lawn mower, get out the grill, the patio set, take down the Christmas lights, put out the spring decor and fill the bird feeders. And as if that wasn't enough, I had to pick up the backyard from a winter of a dog going outside...catch my drift? LOL I was pooped, so I thought I'd come in and take a nap and couldn't, it was too nice out.

Then I met my best friend for dinner at the Mexican place and some drinkie-poos and had a blast! I hadn't seen her in awhile because our work schedules just don't mesh well, but for some reason this month, they do!

I came home and was chit chatting with another friend, only to find out that he's going to Iraq next month. Next month! I knew that eventually he would proabably have to go, but I guess I didn't think it would be so soon. Not the news I was hoping for, but it doesn't do me any good to get down in the dumps because he's not.

Well, I think I'm going to be off to bed shortly. I even managed to do 3 loads of laundry, so I'm going to fold the last load and go to bed. Have a good night!

Spring is here! Spring is here!

What a beautiful day it was today! It was 70 outside and I had all of my windows open! I think, no I hope that spring is here finally. I have a whole list of things to do tomorrow to get ready for spring. I need to pick up the back yard, get out the patio set, put the snow blower away, get out the lawn mower, finally get the christmas lights out of the bushes and last but not least, put out my spring decor! I can hardly wait! My uncle that lives about 2 hours north of us, still has snow on the ground, but it should be gone by the end of this week.
Bailey and I went over to my parent's house for dinner and they tuckered her out. Between her scrambled egg dinner and running around in their backyard, the fresh air has gone straight to her head and made her sleepy. We came home and got ready to go for our walk, but she decided it would be better if she stayed home to catch up on some sleep. Such a silly dog...but I wouldn't trade her for another.
Well, I suppose I should try to finish my indoor spring cleaning and shut a couple of windows before it gets too chilly in here and I have to turn the heat back on. Toodles!

Where I want to be *sigh*

Ahhhh....Naples Florida. That's a picture of the Naples pier, which is a mile long from start to finish. The water is crystal clear and the sand is as white as can be. On a good day, you can walk to the end of the pier and see dolphins playing and jelly fish and sting rays swimming. I miss it so much. I would do just about anything to move back down there. I have been keeping my eyes open for jobs in the area, either in law enforcement or with the county Parks and Rec. I did an internship down there in the summer of 1998 and never should have moved back home. I could be sitting on the beach having spring fever instead of sitting in my chair watching the snow melt kinda spring fever. A couple of times a year I get a little "home" sick for Naples and look for some jobs. I will know it when the perfect one comes along. I would love to be down there in the next 5 years...keep your fingers crossed for me!

Gosh....where have I been???

Since I posted last, we've had 2 snow storms. Wait, I take that back. 1 snow storm and 1 blizzard! Yes, blizzard. We had something like 18 inches of snow, 60 mph winds and rain and ice. It was a mess and wouldn't you know, I got stuck working 16 hours straight in it. Better inside working than outside though. It was the worst storm Iowa has seen in over 25 years. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later right?
I'm still trying to get over the creeping crud (as the doctor called it) and keep coughing and coughing. Did I mention I've been coughing? It's been so much fun I can hardly contain myself.
My niece was at my house Monday and we did some scrapbooking. She made the most awesome page! I was so blown away and on top of all that, I forgot to take a picture of her and her new page. She is just getting into scrapbooking and had a blast going thru Aunt Katie's stash and picking out paper and stuff to take home.
Friday my mom and I are going shopping for the day. She is getting a new sewing machine, so it promises to be an expensive trip. I'm not sure what's going to cost more, the machine or the gas to get there. It's up to $2.52 a gallon here in town which is just crazy! It was cheaper during the blizzard and they knew that was going to hit for about a week. I can't wait for them to go back down...I just had to have an SUV. How come no one stopped me? LOL
Anyways, since I'm trying to kick this stuff, the doctor put me on some cough syurp and it's starting to work, so I'd better head to bed. Hope everyone is well and safe!
